“Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the Word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” (Hebrews 13:7-8)
I sometimes use this space to introduce to you some of our Christian leaders from the past. Today, I would like to tell you a tiny bit about Athanasius of Alexandria, a city in Egypt. He was called to glory on May 2, 373 A.D. Athanasius was well known for standing strong for the Christian Faith in the face of opposition. He wrote a book titled, “On the incarnation of the Word,” that defended the Biblical truth that Jesus is 100% God and 100% man at the same time. He was exiled a number of times, but Athanasius stood firm on the teaching of Scripture. In the midst of all the resistance, someone told him that the world was against him. To this Athanasius replied, “If the world is against the truth, then I am against the world.”
By the grace of God, may we all stand strong in Jesus! Pastor Russ
